Xhibit 2022 at The Koppel Project, New Bond Street, London
For Arts SU part of University of the Arts, London (UAL)
Peer Sessions were invited to facilitate a crit for UAL students exhibiting in the group show Xhibit 2022, selected by a panel of industry professionals. We discussed the work of three of the exhibiting artists, Jomile Kazlauskaite, Emma Santos and Yarden Fudim.
Jomile Kazlauskaite showed a triptych of photographs titled ‘Under Her Skin' inscribed with handwritten texts that featured close ups of folds of flesh and body parts. We discussed Emma Santos's piece ‘The Dancer,' a luminous multi-coloured drawn image of a moving figure across a black background. Lastly, we explored the painting ‘Dead Sea' by Yarden Fudim, a loosely painted close up of a possibly infinite array of body bags that also appear to mimic waves.
